Commissioner of the Federal Communications Commission calls on Apple and Google to 'ban TikTok'
Brendan Carr, commissioner of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), which regulates and oversees the broadcast and communications business in the United States, has called on Apple and Google to 'ban TikTok.'

' Kerr says the reason why TikTok should be removed is 'because we are collecting sensitive data.'

The 'latest report revealing that TikTok is collecting a large amount of sensitive data,' Kerr mentioned in a tweet, seems to refer to the latest coverage of BuzzFeed News . In this report, nine TikTok employees testified that 'American TikTok user data is secretly accessed by a Chinese TikTok engineer.'

Quoting BuzzFeed News, Kerr points out that Chinese TikTok engineers are collecting 'biometric identifiers including search / browsing history, keystroke patterns, facial photos and voiceprints' of American TikTok users. In addition, 'It is clear that TikTok has secretly accessed sensitive data from China, and that the extensive data collected from this access poses unacceptable national security risks to the US government. We will apply the plain text of the app store policy to Tik Tok and request that Tik Tok be removed from the app store if the conditions are not met. '
In 2020, TikTok was ordered by former President Donald Trump to ' prohibit use in the United States unless the business in the United States is sold to an American company .' This is due to privacy concerns that TikTok is transferring personal information to Chinese servers.
