LEGO and Epic Games announced on their official website that 'We today announced that we will enter into a long-term partnership to shape the future of a safe and enjoyable Metaverse for children and families. We are children of all ages. We will work together to create a compelling digital experience that we can enjoy together, be immersive and inspire creatively. '
Both companies have set out three principles in building a metaverse for children:
・ Protect children's right to play by prioritizing safety and happiness.
・ Put the interests of children first and protect their privacy.
Encourage children and adults with tools that can control their digital experience.
Lego CEO Niels B. Christiansen said in a statement, 'We have a responsibility to make digital play safe, exciting and informative for everyone. For generations. We promise to do the same for digital play, just as we have protected our children's right to play safely in the real world. We work with Epic Games to make this exciting and playful. I look forward to shaping the future. '
'Lego has been captivated by the imagination of children and adults through creative play for nearly a century,' said Tim Sweeney, founder and CEO of Epic Games. We are for children and families. We are excited to work together to create an interesting and fun world of metaverses created in. '
