How many people think that they will not be vaccinated against the new corona, and why?

Vaccination for the new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) has started in the United States and Europe, but vaccination reservations have been canceled due to uncertain prospects for vaccine supply, and the opening of vaccination facilities has been delayed.

There is confusion . Also, since many people need to be vaccinated to achieve herd immunity, but some refuse vaccination, we study 'Why do people refuse vaccination?' Investigated.

Why the next major hurdle to ending the pandemic will be about persuading people to get vaccinated

The research was conducted by research teams such as Timothy Callaghan of Texas A & M University and Matt Motta of Oklahoma State University. Karahan and colleagues believe that understanding why people refuse vaccination will reveal 'who' and 'what information can be provided' to encourage vaccination. We conducted a survey.

A survey of 5009 Americans found that 31.1% of the respondents were 'not willing to vaccinate.' This is a very tough number, as it is said that more than 70% of the population needs to be immunized to achieve herd immunity.

In addition, there were some trends in the willingness to vaccinate. For example, 35.7% of women said they would not be vaccinated, which is higher than 26.3% of men. By race, 42.9% of blacks refused vaccination, compared to 28.6% of whites. From a political point of view, 37.8% of the conservatives, 33.4% of the centrists, and 24.1% of the liberals were negative about vaccination.

The most common reason for refusing vaccination was 'safety concerns' (18%). The second is 'I think the vaccine is ineffective' (16%), followed by 'I can't afford it' (6%), 'I don't have the money' (6%), and 'Already I got COVID-19 '(3%). There are also gender and racial differences in the reasons, especially women are more concerned about safety and effectiveness than men, and blacks are 'not insured' and 'cannot afford' than whites. It was also shown that the rate of refusing vaccination was high for that reason.

In response to the findings, the research team said, 'Political leaders and public health experts need to recognize that people are reluctant to vaccinate over the next few months and persuade them to vaccinate. 'There is,' and at the same time, 'emphasizing that anyone with or without insurance can be vaccinated for free,' he said.
