Become a Buddha instantly! The outer box looks like this. A slightly eerie illustration of 'a monk who became an instant Buddha with a bell in his hand' is accompanied by a pop title 'Let's become an instant Buddha!'.
The play time is 20 to 30 minutes, the number of players is 5 to 6, and the target age is 10 years old or older.
The box contains instructions and three types of cards. There are English and Japanese versions of the manual, so even foreigners who cannot read Japanese can aim for Sokushinbutsu with confidence.
Inside the card are cards with
There are also cards with Buddhist jargon such as ' Chant ' and ' Admission '.
First of all, we decided to aim for Sokushinbutsu together. Place a deck in the center and discard cards on both sides, and start the game when you deal 3 cards in 1st place and 4 cards in 2nd place.
You need to complete three phases to become a Sokushinbutsu. In the first phase, the 'Five Grains Collection Phase,' five grains of 'rice,' 'wheat,' 'millet,' 'millet,' and 'soybeans' are collected for the last meal before the fasting.
The first hand dealt looks like this. All three are sutra chanting, and there are no five grains ...
To draw a card from the deck. You can draw two cards in the 'Five Grains Collection Phase'.
When I drew two cards, I was able to get 'wheat' and 'water'. 'Water' can be exchanged for deck or discard cards.
I want to collect five grains as soon as possible and become a real Buddha, so I throw away 'water' and throw it in the bill storage area ...
I drew a card while praying for the five grains.
Get a wonderful 'wheat / soybean' card. The 'Wheat / Soybean' card can be treated as either 'Wheat' or 'Soybean'.
After drawing the card from the deck, you need to give it to the next opponent. When discarding a card, you must discard it as a set of two with the same card as shown in the image below. In addition, only the sutra chanting card can be discarded as a set of two with any card.
The turn is over when you discard the card. In the 'Five Grains Collection Phase', all types of five grains are collected by repeatedly drawing and discarding cards.
Instead of discarding two cards, you can also give one card to your opponent. The card given this time is ...
It was 'nuts' instead of five grains. Since you can only have up to 7 cards in your hand, you can increase your opponent's hand by passing cards and take a tactic to discard important cards.
The turn progressed and finally succeeded in collecting five grains.
If you show your opponent all of your hand, the 'Five Grains Collection Phase' is complete. The player who first completes the 'Five Grains Collection Phase' can get 1 'Bodhisattva Point'.
Players who have completed the 'Five Grains Collection Phase' will then go on to practice cutting off the stubbornness of the five grains. In other words, aim for a state where there are no five grains in your hand.
The way to proceed with the turn is the same as in the 'Five Grains Collecting Phase', but you can cleanse your body by drinking 'Lacquer Tea' as a special action in the 'Five Grains Cutting Phase'. '
You can turn the 'lacquer tea' over and keep it at hand. The player who drinks the most 'lacquer tea' and 'becomes the best mummy' can get 3 'Bodhisattva points' at the end of the game.
Succeeded in cutting off all five grains safely while drinking lacquer tea, and finally entered the 'earth phase'. If you come to this point, you'll be close to Sokushinbutsu.
The purpose of the 'Soil Phase' is to reduce the number of cards in your hand to 0 in order to eliminate all worldly desires.
The special action of the 'earth phase' is the 'admission' of eternal meditation to unify the spirit and reach the state of selflessness. The 'decision' does not go to the discard pile and remains in hand, and the player who has the most 'entry' in hand can get 3 'Bodhisattva points' at the end of the game.
As we progressed through the turns, we now have one card left in each other's hand. When I draw a card from the deck while praying, 'After that, if you turn off the anxieties of'rice', you can become a Buddhahood!'
Draw 'Chant'. By reading the sutras and abandoning the anxieties of 'rice,' I was finally able to become a Sokushinbutsu.
The game ends when one of them becomes a Sokushinbutsu. Players who become Sokushinbutsu can get 4 'Bodhisattva points'.
The player who drank a lot of lacquer tea and 'became the best mummy' received 3 'Bodhisattva points' ...
If a player who 'enters deeper meditation' with many 'acceptance' cards in hand receives three 'Bodhisattva points' ...
The player with the highest total Bodhisattva points wins, so the first player to become a Sokushinbutsu does not necessarily win. However, if you become a Sokushinbutsu, you can get as many as 4 Bodhisattva points, so it is very advantageous to become a Sokushinbutsu. This time, the player who became a Sokushinbutsu first won with 4 + 3 + 1 = 8 points.
Next, we decided to aim for Sokushinbutsu with a maximum of 5 people.
When playing with 3 or more players, add a 'bell' card to the deck. If you have only 4 'bells' in your hand during the 'earth phase', you can instantly become a Buddhahood.
As the game progressed, we succeeded in entering the 'earth phase' at the very beginning. Get 1 'Bodhisattva point'. Furthermore, at this point, three 'bells' are included in the hand, and it is about to become a Buddhahood.
As the turn progresses, he succeeds in drawing a 'bell' from the deck.
Discard the pair of 'Chant' and 'Tree nuts' ...
I succeeded in making only 4 'bells' in my hand and became a Buddhahood. Other players were also in the 'earth phase', but I was able to become a Sokushinbutsu a little earlier. In addition, you can get 4 'Bodhisattva points' in a normal Buddhahood, but you can only get 3 points if you have all the 'bells' in the Buddhahood.
Now that the game is over, we will calculate the points. After adding 3 Bodhisattva points to the player who collected the most 'lacquer tea' and 'entry', the total Bodhisattva points earned was 5 to 3 to 3, which was a last-minute victory.
When playing the game many times, the player who earned 'Bodhisattva points' with 'lacquer tea' and 'entry' may win instead of the player who was the first to become a Buddhahood. Sokushinbutsu is required not only for speed, but also for cleanliness of the body and depth of meditation.
During the play of 'Let's become a real Buddha!', Strange words such as 'I want to drink lacquer ...' and 'Disappearance of worldly desires!' In addition, ugly conflicts may occur, such as pressing the five grains against other players in order to cut off the anxieties, or conversely pressing them. The game is divided into three phases, which may seem complicated at first glance, but once you participate, even beginners can easily learn the rules. Even if you get used to the rules, it takes about 40 minutes to play, so it is recommended as a game to play carefully.
'Let's become a real Buddha!' Will be sold for 2000 yen excluding tax from November 13, 2020.
