With the newly released feature, when a user speaks into the microphone, Google's AI analyzes the pronunciation of the word and receives feedback on whether each syllable matches Google's expected pronunciation.

The execution screen of the feedback function looks like this. Click on the image to see the GIF animation.

For example, if you want to check the pronunciation of the word “quokka”, enter “how to pronounce quokka” in the search box, tap “Practice”, then speak into the microphone.

Voice recognition analyzes the pronunciation of the word and gives feedback such as “The last sound byte“ kuh ”“ k ”was pronounced incorrectly”. For further improvement advice, correct tongue movement and similar pronunciation words are displayed.

If the pronunciation is correct, “Good job!” Is displayed.

Google positions the pronunciation recognition function as an “experimental service” and is only available on mobile at the time of article creation. The target languages are only some languages such as English and Spanish.

Google has also started a service that adds visual information to word translations. For example, if you translate the Spanish word “naranja” into English, you will see an orange image with the translated word.

If you look at words with multiple meanings, multiple images will be displayed. For example, when the meaning of “seal” is examined, a mechanical seal , sealing, etc. are displayed.

Image translation works only for some English nouns, and Google has announced that it plans to expand the target languages and images in the future.
