In December 2018, a dedicated emergency patch was released in order to fix the zero day vulnerability discovered by Internet Explorer of the Web browser which Microsoft is developing independently. However, applying this patch has caused a problem that Windows will not start on some Lenovo laptops.

Emergency patches for Internet Explorer published by Microsoft are causing problems for many Windows users. Specifically, it seems that users using Lenovo laptops will not be able to start the terminal if KB 4467691 patch is applied. The big thing is that this problem affects a wide range of versions of Windows and versions 9 to 11 of Internet Explorer.

KB 4467691 The patch was released for the first time in November 2018, and at this point it was reported that some problems occurred in older versions of Windows 10. For example, it seems that problems have occurred in ".NET Framework" and "Web Link on Start Menu".

To fix this, Microsoft updated the KB 4467691 patch in December 2018. However, as a known problem on the release page, it is reported that "Windows fails to start on some Lenovo laptops".

On some Lenovo laptops with less than 8 GB of installed RAM, Windows may fail to boot after installing KB 4467691.

One workaround proposed by Microsoft is "restart the computer with the affected Unified Extensible Firmware Interface , disable secure boot and restart it". Secondly, "If BitLocker is enabled, you need to perform a BitLocker recovery after disabling secure boot."

In addition, Microsoft plans to "cooperate with Lenovo to provide updates in future releases."
