◆ Appearance review
The outer box of XS505M - 100 AJS looks like this.

When opening the box, the body was carefully packed.

The contents are instruction manuals (left front), main body (right front), two power cables (left back), rack mount kit for rack installation (right back).

The inside of the bag containing the instruction manual etc is this. The contents are the Japanese installation guide (left back), the English installation guide (center back), the English guarantee (right back), Japanese notes (left front), Japanese (Center front), official application guide (right front).

There are two kinds of power supply cables, both of which are about 183 cm in length. On the right is a common 2-pin outlet plug with earth attached.

On the left was a type plug plug with three pins.

Other accessories are metal fittings and screws for attaching to the rack, rubber feet (lower right).

Four LAN ports ( RJ - 45 ) compatible with 10 G, 5 G, 2.5 G, 1 G, and 100 M are also lined up in the front.

The rightmost port is the SFP + slot used when connecting the switches. SFP / SFP + module ( sold separately) is required for use.

◆ Measurement - Next, test if it can actually produce 10 Gbps speed. In addition to the NETGEAR XS 505 M - 100 AJS main body, we used two PCs and a LAN cable. For each PC, " ASUS XG-C100C " and " Intel X540-T2 " network cards compatible with 10 Gbps are added.

First, insert the LAN cable into the first PC. This PC has Intel X540-T2 installed.

Connect the cable to NETGEAR XS505M - 100AJS. I used LAN cable conforming to Category 7 just in case so as not to affect the speed.

Insert another LAN cable into the port of NETGEAR XS505M - 100 AJS ......

Connect to the second PC.

ASUS XG - C100C is installed on the second PC.

This is the result of testing using the free software " iPerf ". At 9.90 Gbps, a huge explosion speed achieved through hubs has been realized. NETGEAR XS 505 M - 100 AJS seems to be able to say that you can build a LAN without slowing the speed if you use 2 ports.

Next, I tried using all four ports. While testing the file by connecting a PC to ports 3 and 4, we will also perform communication tests on port 1 and port 2 as before. Since the added PC is one that is compatible with 1 Gbps, the port lamp was lit in orange.

The result is this. About 0.5 Gbps has been dropped, but it was still able to communicate at a fairly high speed.
