Valve releases Steam Play which adopts Proton which can run Windows game on Linux to enhance Linux user's gaming experience
Valve running Steam has updated to greatly improve the Linux user's gaming experience. With this update, even Windows games that have not released the Linux version can be installed directly from Steam on Linux.

Valve has announced an update to "Steam Play" that delivers games for all platforms of Windows, Linux and Mac. This update aims to dramatically improve the gaming experience of Linux users.
" Wine" of compatible tool is generally used to play games for Windows on Linux, but in the new update, "Proton" compatible tool based on Wine is adopted. Note that Proton is an open source software, published on GitHub .
By adopting Proton which is an enhanced version of Wine, it is now possible to install and run Windows game titles without Linux version directly from Steam on Linux. In addition, Steamworks and OpenVR native support has also been completed.
Besides, DirectX 11 and DirectX 12 are implemented based on Vulkan , which improves the performance of multi-threaded games, supports full-screen play without relying on monitor resolution without virtual desktop, and supports all Steam supported Game controllers are supported on Linux.
