"My name is JR, I like to call myself an artist"
"Simply describing my work is to put a black-and-white image on the wall, I believe that this work will connect people's mind."
Mr. JR visits a conflict area and an area where a miserable incident occurred and is engaged in various art project activities. BrazilSlumThen, an incident occurred in which three students were murdered after being kidnapped. While refusing to go to the site called the lawless zone even by the media and NGO organizations, Mr. JR visited the poor community without fail and affixed the face picture of one grandmother of the victim to the stairs in the place where the student was abducted We have done activities such as sticking large pictures of many people in the city.
Mr. JR went to Kenya in 2008KiberaWhen you visit the roof of a private house ... ...
I made a project to attach a female face photo to a train etc. These activities can not be done individually by Mr. JR, but are achieved by obtaining cooperation from local people.
When I visited Israel and Palestine during the war, I carried out activities to paste the photographs of the face of both citizens who are doing the same occupation everywhere. It seems to have pasted to the monitoring tower of the military without permission, but there are few pictures deliberately peeled off even after many years, it seems that it was left in almost clean condition.
"Even a community in an area that does not relate to art, I thought that I would like to do art projects more than I imagined, but there are limitations only with my power, so even people other than me I thought there was something I could do. "
"To realize this thought, IInside Out ProjectWe launched a website called "
"When you send a face photo to a website ... ...."
"We print out your face photographs in a large format and mail them to anywhere in the world, which means that everyone was able to affix photos inside the city instead of me. As of 2018 , I print more than 300,000 face photographs and send it to over 130 countries. "
Besides this, I also run a truck loaded with photo booths.
"I am traveling with this track," said Ruana.
She seems to be traveling around 30 cities in the USA with Mr. Josh, Mr. Basel and Jamie.
Once the truck arrives at the site and you are ready to shoot ... ...
Participants get on a truck and take a picture of their own face.
Then, in about 1 minute, a large format black and white photograph was printed out from the side of the truck.
Most of the people who participate in the project have never seen their big face photograph, and many people take a commemorative photo after printing out.
Afterwards, the photo of the face you print out is carried to the wall.

It will be stuck one by one
Karina Perez who participated in the project said, "Even though we always think" I want to do something ", this project brings a great opportunity to those who could not put it into practice."
Mr. JR says, "Some people may feel that this activity is meaningless by just annoying actions. But if the photograph is not actually peeled off in the conflict area or it is in dangerous place in an unknown area It is true that people have some influence, such as helping the activity, no one knows what kind of influence will happen, but it is worth a try. "I appeal to people for something It explains that what you can do is meaningful.
In addition, Mr. JR explained in detail by Mr. TED about the activities in the conflict area and the poor city which I had done before starting the "Inside Out" project.
