Wiki Loves Monuments is operated by community members of Wikipedia, and participants take photographs of cultural property buildings and historical sites in their residence area, and entry it by posting to Wikimedia Commons. The first contest in the Netherlands was held in 2010, and as of 2016 the Wikipedia community of over 40 countries around the world is participating.
