The patent that Ford applied for is "SELF - PROPELLED UNICYCLE ENGAGEBLE WITH VEHICLE", which means literally means "a self - propelled unicycle capable of interlocking with the car". Ford filed a patent for June 2015, and the details of the application was revealed as the patent application that was applied was released on 15th December.


The contents of the patent is to let the seat mounted on the rear wheel separated from the car and to operate as a unicycle. Looking at the figure below, you can see that the stand (46) for floating the car body extends from near the left rear wheel of the stopped car. After lifting the car body, remove the left rear wheel, and the handle which was in the trunk is mounted on it like the integrated sheet. The process of lifting the car body and removing the rear wheels is said to be done fully automatically.
