15 inmates' handmade tools, including those used in the actual jailbreak plan

There are 15 inmate-made tools that can only be seen in the movie, such as the tools that the inmates actually used to jailbreak and the ones that were used to smuggle drugs into the prison. All of these are real and were shot by photographer Marc Steinmetz in the late 1990s.

1: Saw

The saw, which was confiscated at the therapy department of Hohenasperg Prison in Germany, is said to be made from a hanger and a thread saw blade. I'm also surprised that I had the prisoner work with a thread saw.

2: Ladder made of bed sheets

Ladder made of bed sheets has the impression that it is a jailbreak tool because it appears frequently in stories, but it seems that it hardly exists in reality. This unusual bed sheet ladder is 16 meters long and is made from bed sheets and cloth. It was used for a jailbreak plan from Santa Fu Prison in Hamburg, Germany, one who fell from a ladder and the other who landed on the roof.

3:

Pachinko

Wolfenbuettel prison inmates made this slingshot in the name of a work of art named 'Dachsund'. Of course, this excuse was unbelievable to anyone and was confiscated in 1991.

4: Shotgun

A shotgun made from bed pillars. Lead contained in the tape of the curtain is used for the gunpowder, and the launcher is said to be combined with AA batteries. The prisoner who made this took the hostage, fired at the window glass and destroyed it, got into the car waiting outside and succeeded in jailbreak. It happened on May 21, 1984.

5: Toaster / stove

This is a homemade toaster and stove heater that was discovered in the mid-1980s. It's made using broken heating rods, aluminum foil, and wires, but it's unclear if it was used to heat food or drink.

6: Hook hook

A 4m50cm hook hook made from leather rope and extension rods used by prisoners to escape from Ludwigsburg prison on August 19, 1987, divided into 13 parts. The prisoner seems to have succeeded in overcoming two walls using this.

7: Prosthesis

It is a prosthesis used to hollow out a part of the main body and hide things. In 1984, a prisoner at Santa Fu Prison in Germany used it to steal the guard's eyes and smuggle drugs.

8: Mace

Mace found in 1997 in Santa Fu prison. It is believed to have been used not only as a weapon but also to push barbed wire away, and was found in a metal workshop inside a prison.

9: Ladder

The ladder is made from a steel bookshelf and was used by two prisoners, Gerhardt Polk and Raimund Albert, to escape from Santa Fu prison. It happened on October 10, 1994.

10: A rope ladder disguised as a chess piece

This ladder is quite original even if it is a ladder. The scaffolding of the rope ladder was disguised as a chess piece and was confiscated in Wolfenbuettel Prison in 1993.

11: Whip

A whip used by a drug addict in prison when he took a female jailer hostage to demand a purer methadone. Needless to say, the whip was confiscated after that.

12: Knuckle duster

It is known that prisoners fight for territory even in prisons, but this knuckle duster (Merikensack) is used in such situations. Made of files and stuffing, it was discovered in Wolfenbuettel Prison in 1993.

13: Cannabis smoking pipe

A cannabis smoking pipe made from an empty horseradish tube by a prisoner who wants to turn away from the reality of being imprisoned. Smoking equipment is the most common fraudulent item in prisons, and it is said that everything that the inmate's imagination allows can be used as a material.

14: Electric heater to be put into water

Alcohol is not served in prisons, but there are cases where prisoners make their own. It is said that moonshine was made by fermenting crushed fruits using this electric heater.

15: Cross

A sharp blade is hidden inside this handmade wooden cross. Until this was discovered, wooden crosses were commonplace in timber workshops in prisons.
