"IP Locator" free software that identifies the address from the IP address and displays it on Google Maps
This free software which truly realized a joked phrase like "I identified an address from your IP address"IP Locator"is.
This software refers to the IP address database "GeoLite City" provided by MaxMind, obtains the country, city, latitude, longitude, etc. from the IP address, identifies the address, and displays it using Google map It has a function.

Click "IP Locator" on the above page. The page moves, but the download starts automatically.
Launch the downloaded installer
Confirm that it is in Japanese and click "OK"
Click "Next"
Click "Next"
Click "Next"
Click "Install" to start installation.
Click "Done"
When starting as it is, the database of "GeoLite City" is not included, so an error message "GeoIPCityDB missing Please Download GeoIPCity !!!" is displayed. If this error appears, click "Yes" and exit IP Locator once.
The page of GeoLite CityClick "Download the latest GeoLite City Binary Format" to download it.
You can download such a file. Since it is a compression format called GZip, if this format can not be decompressed,ExplzhLet's install a decompression tool that supports GZip format.
When unpacking, the folder "GeoLiteCity.dat" will appear on the desktop, so click on it.
There is a file called "GeoLiteCity.dat" in the folder. Copy this and paste it into the folder where the program body of IP Locate is located. By default, copy and paste into the "IP Locator" folder inside "Program Files" folder of C drive and it is OK. For 64-bit version of Windows, copy and paste it into the "IP Locator" folder inside "Program Files (x86)" folder of C drive and you are ready.

Click the IP Locator icon in the start menu to start it.
Here is the main screen. To find the address of the IP address, click the icon on the upper left loupe and plus mark.

Then the map of Matsuyama city Ehime prefecture was displayed on Google map. Since the address of the used IP address is Osaka prefecture, it is far apart.
Move the lower scroll bar to the right, you can see the latitude (Latitude), longitude (Logitude), host name.
It seems difficult to figure out an accurate address with this software, but it may be possible in some cases to guess the area to some extent from the host name etc.
Incidentally, even if the display on the map deviates from the IP address of the university or the company, if you convert the IP address to the host name, it is highly likely that the name will be identified as you can see the image below.
Even if it is not possible to convert the host name from the IP address, it is possible to search the network of which organization from the following page.
