According to the announcement, the features of Asahi Linux available on M3 series Macs are almost all of those supported on M1 and M2 series Macs, and include the following features:

• Webcam
• Built-in microphone
• USB port (up to 10Gb/s, limited by USB3 hardware)
Hardware-accelerated video decoding (including AV1 support)
· Wifi
Bluetooth

On the other hand, as of the time of writing, the main limitations cited are 'frame buffer limitations included in the firmware,' 'lack of full DCP (Display Coprocessor) support,' and 'insufficient optimization of GPU performance and power efficiency in 3D acceleration.' Therefore, you will encounter limitations when trying to use the following features.

・3D acceleration related
• Sleep function
HDMI port

Additionally, Mac Studio (M3 Ultra) is not supported at the time of writing this article.

Please note that at the time of writing, support for M3 series Macs is limited to 'Expert Mode,' so users who want to try Asahi Linux on an M3 series Mac will need to start the installation by running the following command from the macOS terminal.
[code]
curl -L https://alx.sh/ | EXPERT=1 sh
[code]

After installation is complete, it is recommended to perform a system upgrade (dnf upgrade --refresh). The 'Expert mode' restriction will be lifted by the release of the Fedora Linux 45 beta version, provided there are no major issues. Incidentally, the final beta candidate for Fedora 45, 'Beta-1.3,' was released on September 5, 2026 .

The Asahi Linux project team welcomes user feedback and hopes that users will enjoy using Asahi Linux on their M3 series Macs.
