'reFrame' is a DIY camera that can record only one image at a time on e-paper.



Karoyan Kolev , an engineer at Google, has developed a DIY camera called ' reFrame ' equipped with e-paper and released its design information as open source.

This is what reFrame looks like. The shooting components, such as the lens and sensor, are designed to use a Raspberry Pi Camera Module 3, and data processing is performed on a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W.



The display uses

Waveshare's 4-inch full-color e-paper . When you press the shutter button, the photo will appear on the e-paper approximately 20 seconds later. A unique feature is that the photo remains displayed even after the power is turned off. Also, it does not have photo storage or a memory card slot, and employs a system that 'continues to display only the most recent photo.'



The exterior is made using a 3D printer.
