The selling price of Chinese-made DDR5 memory has been revealed; will memory become cheaper?

Chinese company CXMT produces DDR5 memory for PCs, and several memory module manufacturers are increasingly adopting CXMT chips. The selling price of memory modules now featuring CXMT chips has been revealed.

While PC memory modules themselves are sold by a variety of manufacturers, the memory chips themselves are manufactured by three companies: Micron, Samsung, and SK hynix. Of these, Micron has stopped manufacturing memory chips for consumer use .
Amidst the continuing shortage and soaring prices of memory, Chinese company CXMT is attracting attention. Founded in 2016, CXMT is a memory manufacturer, and it has been reported that several vendors are already testing CXMT's DDR memory. In July 2026, MSI released a beta BIOS that supports CXMT memory, and there is also information that CXMT memory works on ASUS motherboards.

A PC enthusiast, @harukaze5719 , has posted a screenshot on X showing a memory module equipped with CXMT DDR5 memory chips being sold on a major Chinese online store. The screenshot shows a 64GB DDR5-5600 memory module being sold for 18,999 yuan (approximately 458,900 yen). This memory module is ECC memory intended for servers and workstations, which is why it is more expensive than PC-向け products.

Under the same conditions of '64GB', 'DDR5-5600', and 'ECC memory', SK hynix memory costs 18,595.91 yuan (449,100 yen).

Samsung memory is also priced at 18,595.91 yuan (449,100 yen). In the case of server-grade ECC memory, CXMT is not cheaper than Samsung or SK Hynix; in fact, it is sold at a slightly higher price.

The prices mentioned above are for server memory only, so it's unclear what the price of PC memory will be. Also, even if it's not cheap, the amount of memory available on the market will definitely increase.
