Hitachi and Intel have set five key areas of focus: 'semiconductor manufacturing,' 'quantum computing,' 'energy optimization,' 'custom semiconductors and edge AI applications,' and 'factory automation.' They are said to be working on optimizing existing processes as well as creating new solutions.
In the field of semiconductor manufacturing, Hitachi will collect high-precision data generated from its high-precision measuring equipment ' SEM ' and ' etching equipment ' used for semiconductor processing using the integrated platform ' ExTOPE ,' and contribute to improving yield and quality in Intel's semiconductor manufacturing through predictive diagnosis and capture optimization using physical AI.
In the field of quantum computing, Hitachi and Intel will strengthen their joint development partnership. In the field of energy optimization, Hitachi plans to introduce its HMAX Energy suite of AI services for energy infrastructure to Intel's major semiconductor manufacturing sites, and receive high-voltage semiconductors from Intel to improve power solutions.
At the announcement of the collaboration, Hitachi CEO Toshiaki Tokunaga commented, 'By combining Hitachi's IT, OT, and products with Intel's advanced computing, we are confident that we can advance the implementation of physical AI in mission-critical social infrastructure around the world.' Intel CEO Rip Vu Tan also commented, 'The coming wave of physical AI will transform the economy and industry through new advancements in robotics, autonomous machines, and AI running on edge devices. By combining Intel's advanced computing and AI technologies with Hitachi's advanced OT and world-class IT, we will be a unique pair of companies that will help various industries seize the enormous opportunities presented by physical AI,' emphasizing that the collaboration between the two companies will accelerate the social implementation of physical AI.
