NVIDIA may have announced new Arm-based chips for laptops, 'N1' and 'N1X,' targeting low-cost and gaming laptops.

The official X accounts for NVIDIA, Windows, and Arm posted the message 'A new era of PC. 25.0528, 121.5990' on May 30, 2026. This has led to speculation that NVIDIA may finally be announcing new Arm-based PC chips, 'N1' and 'N1X.'

The official Windows account also displays the same message.

Arm also posted the same message a little later.

NVIDIA has been developing the Arm processor 'N1X' for some time, and it is expected that Surface hardware equipped with this N1X will be announced at COMPUTEX TAIPEI 2026.

The hardware-related news site Videocardz reported the following details about the N1 and N1X, citing a 'leak from an insider.'

Model CPU configuration GPU Number of CUDA cores TDP PCIe memory
N1 Upper Configuration 12 cores (8+4) 20SM 2560 units 18-45W PCIe 5.0 x8
PCIe 4.0 x3
LPDDR5X, 8-64GB, 8 channels
N1 Lower Configuration 10 cores (7+3) 16SM 2048 units 18-45W PCIe 5.0 x8
PCIe 4.0 x3
LPDDR5X, 8-64GB, 8 channels
N1X Higher-End Configuration 20 cores (10+10, Cortex-X925+Cortex-A725) 48SM 6144 units 45-80W PCIe 5.0 x12
PCIe 4.0 x5
LPDDR5X, 16-128GB, 16 channels
N1X lower-end configuration 18 cores (9+9, Cortex-X925+Cortex-A725) 40SM 5120 units 45-80W PCIe 5.0 x12
PCIe 4.0 x5
LPDDR5X, 16-128GB, 16 channels

The N1 is a small, low-power model, with configurations that fit within the 18-45W power consumption range. The GPU size is limited to 20 SMs (2560 CUDA cores) in the higher-end configuration and 16 SMs (2048 CUDA cores) in the lower-end configuration, and Videocardz states that 'the N1 may be aimed at being included in more affordable laptops.'

The N1X is a higher-performance model than the N1, and its full configuration is said to be the same as the GB10 used in the DGX Spark. The power consumption range of 45-80W is close to that of high-performance CPUs for gaming laptops, but according to Videocardz, this is the TDP of the entire CPU/GPU package, not just the CPU alone.

In terms of expandability, the N1X supports up to three M.2 drives, while the N1 supports up to two. In terms of memory, the N1X has 16 channels and a maximum of 128GB, while the N1 has 8 channels and a maximum of 64GB, making the N1X superior not only in GPU performance but also in memory bandwidth and capacity.

Furthermore, Videocardz obtained a slide from an insider that was dated '2024,' leading to speculation that the N1/N1X had been under development for a considerable period of time.
