Codex now supports Windows automation, allowing you to automatically draw pictures in Paint or control your browser.

OpenAI's coding agent, 'Codex,' includes a feature called '

Computer Use ' that allows for automated PC operation. Previously, Computer Use was only compatible with macOS, but an update released on May 29, 2025, made it available for Windows as well.

Enabling 'Any App' in the Computer Use section of the Codex app will allow you to automate your PC's operation.

The application to be controlled can be specified in the format '@○○'. For example, you can instruct it to '@paint draw an image of a goblin'.

Paint launched automatically.

The Codex automatically moved the mouse pointer and drew a picture of a goblin.

It also features smartphone connectivity, allowing you to control your Windows PC automatically from your iPhone or Android smartphone.

OpenAI states that it is 'developing further ways to keep work going no matter where you are.'
