The Oura Ring 5 measures 6.09mm wide and 2.29mm thick, a 40% reduction in size compared to the Oura Ring 4, which measured 7.99mm wide and 2.88mm thick. This miniaturization was achieved by redesigning the mechanical, electrical, optical, battery, and sensing architectures. Despite being significantly thinner and smaller than its predecessor, Oura states that the Oura Ring 5's battery life lasts 6 to 9 days on a single 20 to 80-minute charge.

The ring's sensing system has also been significantly improved. The new signal architecture features a precisely designed sensor dome for superior skin contact, more powerful LEDs, and 12 signal paths, resulting in higher accuracy across a wider range of finger types and skin tones.

The standout software addition is 'Health Radar,' based on Oura's symptom detection tool 'Symptom Radar,' released in 2024. Health Radar displays 30-day trends in blood pressure signals and nocturnal respiration, detecting early signs of illness from cardiovascular strain and sleep-related respiratory disorders.
Additionally, a newly added health tracking feature allows US users to directly import diagnosed conditions, medications, test results, and allergy information into the app. Oura has also partnered with Counsel Health, an AI-powered virtual care platform, to allow eligible users in 43 US states to ask health-related questions and connect with qualified doctors through the app for an additional fee.

For example, using a tracking tool for GLP-1 drugs used to treat type 2 diabetes, you can centrally track medication dosage, side effects, weight changes, and biometric data. Furthermore, the lab upload function allows you to import blood biomarker results along with Oura's biometric data.
Other new features include live workouts that track pace, distance, and heart rate in real time via connected devices; brain health research by Oura Labs that combines cognitive function assessments with biometric data; and a time-based data deletion tool that allows users to delete data for specific periods without affecting their overall history.

The Oura Ring 5 is available in six colors: Silver, Black, Stealth, Brushed Silver, Gold, and Deep Rose. It comes with a dedicated charging stand and USB-C cable. The price is ¥65,800 (tax included) for Silver and Black, and ¥81,800 (tax included) for Stealth, Brushed Silver, Gold, and Deep Rose. Pre-orders are already being accepted at the time of writing, with shipping scheduled for June 4th. A sizing kit for measuring ring size is provided free of charge.
