PlayStation Plus is a paid subscription service that offers unlimited access to over 300 games, free games every month, unlimited play of classic PlayStation games, time-limited trial play of games before purchase, and online multiplayer. It is especially essential for users who play online games.

In Japan, the most expensive 'PlayStation Plus Premium' costs 1,550 yen per month, 4,300 yen for three months, and 13,900 yen for twelve months. The mid-range 'PlayStation Plus Extra' costs 1,300 yen per month, 3,600 yen for three months, and 11,700 yen for twelve months. The low-priced 'PlayStation Plus Essential' plan costs 850 yen per month, 2,150 yen for three months, and 6,800 yen for twelve months.



PlayStation's official X (formerly Twitter) account has announced that PlayStation Plus subscription fees for new users will increase in some regions starting May 20, 2026. Monthly fees will start at $10.99 (approx. ¥1750) / €9.99 (approx. ¥1850) / £7.99 (approx. ¥1700), and 3-month fees will start at $27.99 (approx. ¥4450) / €27.99 (approx. ¥5180) / £21.99 (approx. ¥4690). As of the time of writing, no price increase has been announced in Japan.

The PlayStation Plus price change will not apply to existing subscribers, except for users in Turkey and India. However, if you change or let your existing subscription expire, the new price will apply.

Sony recently announced price increases for the PS5, PS5 Pro, and PlayStation Portal Remote Player at the end of March 2026. While Sony has not explained the reason for the price increase, it has been reported that '
