The α7R VI has the following appearance. It uses an E-mount.

The camera features a full-frame stacked Exmor RS CMOS image sensor. It boasts a maximum effective pixel count of 66.9 million pixels and supports high-speed continuous shooting at approximately 30 frames per second, as well as uncropped 4K 60fps video recording.

The optical 5-axis in-body image stabilization unit enables image stabilization of up to 8.5 stops in the center and up to 7.0 stops at the edges.

The image processing engine is the BIONZ XR2, which incorporates AI processing capabilities. It can perform AF/AE calculations approximately 60 times per second and supports blackout-free shooting.

With up to 759 phase-detection autofocus points, it enables highly accurate focusing even on small subjects such as eyes.

The camera features a visible light + IR sensor on the front, enabling highly accurate auto white balance under various light sources. Furthermore, deep learning technology is used to estimate the color of the light source, further enhancing the accuracy of white balance adjustment.

The electronic viewfinder uses an OLED display with 9,437,184 dots. The LCD monitor has 2,095,104 dots.

The 4-axis multi-angle LCD monitor allows you to adjust it for optimal viewing in both landscape and portrait orientations.

When you hold the device in portrait mode, the UI also changes to one optimized for portrait orientation.

The top cover, front cover, internal frame, and rear cover are made of lightweight yet highly rigid magnesium alloy. The mount is secured with six screws, ensuring rigidity to accommodate large super-telephoto lenses.

Furthermore, sealing structures and silicone rubber gaskets are strategically placed to ensure dust and water resistance.

The heat dissipation mechanism, which uses Σ (sigma) shaped graphite material, enables efficient heat dissipation, allowing for continuous 8K video recording for 120 minutes.

It has two card slots. Both slots can accommodate UHS-I/II compatible SD cards and CFexpress 2 Type A cards.

The estimated market price for the α7R VI is around 740,000 yen. The release date is June 5, 2026, and pre-orders will begin at 10:00 AM on May 19, 2026.
