The United States Mint , which is responsible for the production and distribution of coins in the United States, has been issuing the ' American Innovation $1 Coin' since 2018 as a one -dollar coin symbolizing innovation in 'the 50 states of the United States,' 'the District of Columbia,' and 'the five territories of the United States.'

The design for the 2026 American Innovation $1 coin was announced in October 2025, and one of the four designs featured Apple founder Steve Jobs.

This one-dollar coin featuring Steve Jobs will go on sale to the public starting May 12, 2026, local time.

The Steve Jobs dollar coin is the California American Innovation Dollar Coin. Regarding the public sale of this commemorative coin, California Governor Gavin Newsom commented, 'Steve Jobs' innovative and entrepreneurial spirit embodied the essence of California and created the future we know today. His perseverance and fearless pursuit of the California Dream led to the realization of countless American Dreams. We too can follow in his footsteps and pursue our own California Dreams.'

The Steve Jobs dollar coin depicts a young Steve Jobs sitting against a backdrop of rolling hills covered with oak trees, a quintessential Northern California landscape. The image shows a pensive Steve Jobs, and Governor Newsom's office explains that 'his expression and posture reflect the inspiration he received from Jobs' vision of transforming complex technology into something as intuitive and organic as nature itself.' The design of the Steve Jobs dollar coin was created by The Steve Jobs Archive , supported by Governor Newsom's office. According to The Steve Jobs Archive, Jobs had a deep connection to and appreciation for the natural beauty of California.



Steve Jobs' one-dollar coins will be sold in sets of 100 Philadelphia-minted and 100 Tenber-minted coins for $154.50 (approximately 24,300 yen), and in sets of 25 Philadelphia-minted and 25 Tenber-minted coins for $61 (approximately 9,600 yen).
