OpenAI Deployment Company is described as an expansion of OpenAI's existing system of dispatching Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs), who are specialist engineers for frontier AI deployments, to organizations.
FDE will work closely with business leaders and field teams to identify areas where AI can have the greatest impact, and redesign infrastructure to be AI-centric, elevating it into a sustainable system.
OpenAI stated, 'We established OpenAI Deployment Company as an independent business unit to allow us to independently develop the speed and customer-centric approach required for this work. At the same time, OpenAI Deployment Company will function as an extension of OpenAI, enabling customers to remain closely connected with the research, product, and internal deployment teams that shape frontier AI.'

In connection with the launch of the OpenAI Deployment Company, OpenAI has agreed to acquire Tomoro, an AI consulting firm. As a result of this acquisition, approximately 150 FDEs will join the OpenAI Deployment Company from day one.
OpenAI Deployment Company is described as a partnership between OpenAI and 19 investment and consulting firms. Several investment firms, including Bain Capital, serve as co-lead founding partners, with Goldman Sachs and SoftBank also participating as founding partners, and the company has received an initial investment of $4 billion (approximately 630 billion yen). OpenAI will own a majority stake in OpenAI Deployment Company.

Customers can get moving quickly from day one, invest in sustainable systems, and maintain a competitive advantage by building on the next capabilities to come.'
