Hacker News user _-x-_ has reported that 'an app is being installed on my iPhone without my permission every day.' According to _-x-_, the Headspace app is being installed on their iPhone 13 Pro around 1 PM every day. _-x-_ has turned off background app refresh and has already upgraded to the latest version of iOS.

Similar issues have been reported on Reddit, with Reddit user

rohowsky reporting, 'The Headspace app was installed on my iPhone 13 running iOS 26.4.2 without my knowledge. I had installed and then deleted this app over a year ago. I uninstalled it when I saw it on my home screen, but it's now installed again. Why does this happen? I don't share my account with anyone.'

Furthermore, rohowsky was advised by Apple support to restore their iPhone from a backup . However, even after restoring using this method, the Headspace app was apparently installed without their consent.

Several users on Reddit have reported experiencing similar problems , with the affected devices varying from iPhone 16 Pro to iPhone 16 Pro Max . The issue has also been reported on multiple OS versions, including iOS 26.3.1 and iOS 26.4.1.

Regarding this, one Hacker News user posted: 'This isn't the first system bug caused by Headspace. In 2017, an app with a local time-based notification feature caused an infinite crash loop. In the Apple Store I visited, most people were using the reminder feature of a meditation app. In Australia, some people noticed the problem early on the affected day, and the fix was released before the rest of the world woke up. Reminders might be installing apps without your knowledge. Try disabling Reminders before uninstalling.'
