The French government agency responsible for issuing driver's licenses and other identification documents, Agence Nationale des Titres Sécurisés (ANTS), has been hit by a cyberattack, resulting in the theft of 11.7 million pieces of personal information. The perpetrator is already selling the stolen data on the dark web.

According to ANTS, a security incident potentially involving data breaches occurred on April 15, 2026, involving both personal and business accounts within ANTS. Subsequent investigations revealed that user IDs, names, email addresses, dates of birth, and unique account identifiers for 11.7 million accounts were compromised.

International Cyber Digest, which publishes cybersecurity information on X, has reported that information stolen from ANTS is being sold on the dark web. The screenshot below was released by International Cyber Digest and shows that the suspected perpetrator is selling 18 million pieces of information.



According to ANTS, no unauthorized access to accounts has been confirmed. ANTS is urging users to be cautious of suspicious SMS messages and emails that impersonate 'Messages from ANTS.'
