I tried FamilyMart's 'Frozen Chocolate Banana,' which offers a satisfying experience with its perfect combination of the rich sweetness of ripe bananas and cool chocolate.

FamilyMart's ' Frozen Chocolate Banana ,' which offers the rich sweetness and refreshing texture of ripe bananas, has been available in stores nationwide since April 21st, 2026 (Tuesday). Intrigued by the taste of this frozen dessert, which reportedly sold out in many stores when it was first released in 2025, I bought and tried it myself.

The legendary item that sold out everywhere last year is back! 'Frozen Chocolate Bananas' will be available nationwide from April 21st (Tuesday). This is what the packaging for 'Frozen Chocolate Banana' looks like.

The bananas used are substandard bananas that would have otherwise been discarded due to their irregular shape or blemishes, even though they have no problems with taste or quality. In addition to substandard bananas from the 'Highland-Grown Bananas' sold at FamilyMart, substandard bananas handled by Dole Corporation, known for its various fruits, are also being used. This initiative alone has saved approximately 160 tons (weight with peel) of bananas from being thrown away.

The ingredients include bananas, vegetable oil, sugar, whole milk powder, and cocoa powder.

Upon opening the bag, I found frozen chocolate-covered bananas on sticks inside. Each stick was about 18cm long including the handle, and about 13cm long for the chocolate-covered banana portion alone. The handle makes it easy to eat, which is a nice bonus.

Upon taking a bite, a soft, chewy banana emerged from the crisp chocolate coating. The banana was perfectly ripe, with excellent sweetness and flavor, and paired wonderfully with the specially developed chocolate coating. Because it uses almost a whole banana, it's very filling and makes for a truly satisfying frozen dessert.

'Frozen Chocolate Bananas' will be available at FamilyMart stores nationwide (excluding Okinawa Prefecture) from April 21st, 2026 (Tuesday), and in Okinawa Prefecture from April 28th, 2026 (Tuesday). The price is 308 yen (tax included).
