Matsuya launched a new 'Grilled Pork Loin Set Meal ' on April 21, 2026, featuring thick-cut pork grilled on a hot plate. The set meal is said to offer a delightful combination of the tender texture and flavor of the pork loin, so I went to Matsuya to try it out.

I bought a meal ticket and waited. The grilled pork loin set meal is 880 yen including tax, and if you order a double portion of meat it's 1370 yen including tax.

It was ready in about 15 minutes. Each slice of pork loin weighs about 120g, and it comes with a salad, miso soup, and grated daikon radish and green onions as toppings.

When you try the pork loin, you'll find it thick and substantial yet tender, with a delightful texture and flavor with every bite. There's no sauce on it, but the simple, rich flavor of the pork is intensely noticeable with every chew, making it a perfect accompaniment to rice even without any condiments.

The official website recommended pairing it with your favorite sauce from the table, so I tried adding grated daikon radish and green onions, then drizzling it with ponzu sauce to change up the flavor. The grilled pork has plenty of umami, so it goes well whether you add a light flavor with ponzu or a richer flavor with barbecue sauce.

The grilled pork loin set meal is available for a limited time starting April 21, 2026. The set meal is 880 yen (tax included), and the double set meal with two slices of meat is 1370 yen (tax included). The green onion and salt rice bowl is 730 yen (tax included).
