Tasting review of Yoshinoya's 'Thick-cut pork stew set meal' where you can enjoy a big and soft pork stew

The ' Thick-Cut Pork Kakuni Set Meal, ' which allows you to enjoy large, thick pork stew, has been added to the Yoshinoya menu in limited quantities since January 6, 2026. It was so popular when it first appeared in 2025 that it was reintroduced. I was curious about the size and taste of the stew, so I actually tried it at Yoshinoya.

Arrived at Yoshinoya.

I ordered the thick-sliced braised pork set meal using the touch panel on the table.

The thick-sliced pork belly set meal is 1,097 yen including tax. The amount of rice can be customized at no extra charge, so I went for a large portion.

This is what the set meal looks like. It includes rice, thickly sliced braised pork, miso soup, and mustard. Miso soup is not included in takeout orders.

As the name 'thick-cut pork cubes' suggests, they are as thick as a block of bacon.

It is served with green onions and chili oil.

It looks like this when lined up with the iPhone 16 so that you can easily see the size of the pork belly.

It is so soft that it can be easily separated with chopsticks.

It crumbles easily in your mouth. The sauce is a sweet and spicy soy sauce, which, combined with the sweetness of the pork fat, gives it a very sweet flavor.

It was filled with a sweet and spicy sauce, and after one bite I knew it would go perfectly with rice, so I decided to put the whole thing on top of my rice.

There's no way that soft braised pork cubes wouldn't go well with rice.

It's a bit oily and has a strong flavor, but it comes with crunchy green onions and garlicky chili oil, so you won't get bored of it. You can also add mustard for a refreshing taste. The braised pork belly is quite flavorful, so the large bowl of rice was gone in no time.

The thick-sliced pork belly is priced at 1,097 yen (tax included) if eaten in the restaurant, and 1,077 yen (tax included) if taken out. You can check the stores that carry it on the Yoshinoya official map . It is limited in quantity and will end when it is gone.
