Microsoft raises prices on all Surface products, with flagship models now costing 1.5 times their launch price.

Microsoft has implemented significant price revisions across its current Surface Laptop and Surface Pro models. This measure is in response to global memory supply constraints and rising component costs, with the starting prices of its flagship products increasing by $500 (approximately 80,000 yen) compared to their initial launch in 2024.

The 7th generation Surface Laptop and 11th generation Surface Pro , both equipped with Snapdragon X Elite/Plus processors, were released in 2024 for $999 (approximately ¥159,000). This price was later revised to $1,199 (approximately ¥190,000) in 2025, and at the time of writing, it starts at $1,499 (approximately ¥239,000), nearly 1.5 times the original price. This sharp price increase has resulted in a price point that is $400 (approximately ¥61,600) higher than its competitor, Apple's MacBook Air .

Additionally, the 12-inch Surface Pro has been priced up from $799 (approximately 123,000 yen) to $1,049 (approximately 162,000 yen). The 13-inch Surface Laptop has been raised from $899 (approximately 138,000 yen) to $1,149 (approximately 177,000 yen).

The 15-inch Surface Laptop was priced at $1,299 (approximately 207,000 yen) in 2024, but rose to $1,499 (a 15.4% increase year-on-year) in 2025. By 2026, it had reached $1,599 (approximately 254,000 yen), a 6.67% increase year-on-year.

In particular, the top-of-the-line 15-inch model with 64GB of memory and a 1TB SSD is priced at $3,649 (approximately 580,000 yen). This is higher than the $3,299 (approximately 525,000 yen) price tag for the MacBook Pro with the M5 Pro processor.

A Microsoft spokesperson explained, 'This revision is in response to rising costs of memory and components.' A similar trend is observed across the industry, with Motorola and Samsung also raising prices on their latest devices.

Technology media outlet Windows Central is concerned that next-generation hardware, expected to be released in the spring or summer of 2026, will also see price increases.
