When Claude receives instructions from the user, its PC control function first starts by connecting to services such as Slack and Google Calendar, and then selects the most accurate tool. If no connector is available, Claude will directly operate the browser, mouse, keyboard, and screen, completing the task by scrolling, clicking to launch or explore as needed. The characteristic of Claude's PC control function is that it uses both API-based connectors and simple mouse and keyboard operations.
According to Anthropic, Claude's PC operation features are designed with security measures to minimize risks. When Claude uses the PC, the system automatically scans for activations within the model and detects any activity that could pose a risk of data leakage. Users can also stop Claude at any time, and Claude will always request permission before accessing any new applications.

Anthropic provides the following tasks as concrete examples of PC operations using Claude:
- Perform competitive analysis using local files and connected tools, and compile the results into a formatted report.
- Open the smartphone simulator and operate the developed app to identify UX issues.
- Create a spreadsheet using data from multiple sources, format it, and save it to a shared folder.
- Operating applications that do not have connectors (such as company-specific tools).
Anthropic states, 'Compared to Claude's programming and texting abilities, its PC operation capabilities are still in their early stages. Claude is prone to making mistakes. Also, while security measures are continuously being improved, threats are constantly evolving, so we recommend starting with trusted apps and not handling sensitive data.'
Furthermore, on March 19, 2026, Anthropic released '

Claude's PC control functionality is available as a research preview to Claude Pro and Max subscribers. Furthermore, PC use is currently only compatible with macOS. The end of the research preview and expansion to other operating systems are unknown at the time of writing.
