The Personal Computer utilizes a Mac mini in the user's local environment as the 'physical home of the AI.' By having the AI agent reside on a dedicated Mac mini, the Personal Computer combines the local environment with Perplexity's cloud system to operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Your Personal Computer works for you, always on, managing all your tools, tasks, and files from any device.

While AI agents are useful for processing data on a PC and automating tasks, they raise security concerns because they involve handling sensitive data, including personal information. Personal Computer, on the other hand, features an AI agent residing on a dedicated Mac mini, and access to local files is performed on the device, allowing users to work without disclosing confidential information. Furthermore, the platform claims to operate in a secure environment with clear safety measures, including requiring approval for sensitive operations, keeping a complete history of all sessions, and providing immediate user control with a kill switch.
Also announced at the same time was the 'Computer for Enterprise,' an AI agent for businesses that routes tasks to 20 specialized models for multi-step workflows such as research, coding, and design, and connects to and executes over 400 applications.

According to Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas, a study comparing more than 16,000 queries with institutional benchmarks such as McKinsey, Harvard, and MIT found that the Perplexity Computer reduced in-house team labor costs by $1.6 million (approximately 250 million yen) and performed 3.25 years' worth of work in just four weeks. Computer for Enterprise aims to extend the capabilities of the Perplexity Computer to other teams.
We first built Computer as a Slack integration and had every Perplexity employee in the same channel. Our estimate: Computer performed 3.25 years of work and saved us $1.6M in just four weeks. Today, we're making the Computer Slack integration available for all Enterprise users.

Computer for Enterprise connects to the tools companies already use and can query hundreds of platforms directly through app connectors. For example, in the business communication tool Slack , teams can collaborate with Computer for Enterprise through messages and shared channels to handle coding, create dashboards and financial models without the need for data scientists or analytics teams, and run scheduled workflows asynchronously. Computer for Enterprise is built on an existing, secure foundation, and all queries are processed in its own secure sandbox.
'With this release, the power of the Computer extends to personal workflows, enterprise software, developer platforms, and finance. Regardless of the vertical, the core is the same: a system that understands your goal, gathers the right context, leverages the right tools, and gets the job done. It's all about the Computer,' Perplexity said.
