A new feature will allow Android smartphones to be connected to external monitors and used like PCs, starting with Pixel and Galaxy

Google has begun rolling out Android 16 QPR3, which includes features like the ability to connect your smartphone to an external monitor and display a PC-like UI, and the ability to create location-sharing links to help resolve lost luggage at airports. Google is also rolling out a feature update for the Pixel series called 'Pixel Drop.'

No special app is required to connect to an external monitor; simply connect it to the monitor using a USB cable. Various apps will be displayed in a window on the monitor, and you can freely adjust the size of the window. A taskbar will also be displayed at the bottom of the screen. The screen will remain the same as it was on your smartphone.

The external monitor output feature is available not only for smartphones but also for foldable devices and tablets. For devices that support windowed mode, such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab S11, you can treat the external monitor as an extended screen, connecting the device and monitor screens and freely arranging windows. At the time of writing, the external monitor output feature is available on the Pixel 8 series, Pixel 9 series, Pixel 10 series, Samsung S26 series, Samsung Fold 7, Samsung Flip 7, and Samsung Tab S11.

When you use the share function, a link that allows you to access your location information will be generated as shown below.

The link allows the employee to access the location of the package through a browser, and the user can disable the link at any time, ensuring privacy once the package is collected.

The March 2026 version of Pixel Drop has also been released. Pixel Drop includes a variety of updates, including a new 'Circle Search' feature that lets you search for a person's clothing and shoes by simply surrounding them.

A new feature has also been added: AI-generated app icons.

In addition, the song title search function for music playing around you has been made independent as a separate app, allowing you to view your search history, add songs to your favorites, and play entire songs within the app.
