Meta announced that it will introduce a new AI-powered feature called 'Dear Algo' to Threads on February 11, 2026. This feature allows users to temporarily increase or decrease the number of specific topics displayed in their feed based on their interests at the time. The aim is to provide flexible control according to individual needs so that users can keep up with what is happening right now.

It's very simple to use: just type 'Dear Algo' in a public post, followed by the specific content you want to see or avoid. For example, if you post 'Dear Algo, show me more posts about basketball,' you'll see more basketball-related content.

Once you share your request, your feed will be updated based on your preferences over the next three days, allowing you to keep up with the latest topics. In addition to posting your own requests, you can also repost other people's Dear Algo posts to apply their preferences to your feed and discover new conversations.

The settings screen allows users to see at a glance which requests are currently active and which have expired, and allows users to keep up to six active requests. If users decide they want to cancel the setting, they can choose to delete only the request, or both the request and the original post at once.

Dear Algo is currently available in the US, New Zealand, Australia, and the UK. Meta aims to make Threads a more personal experience through Dear Algo, whether you're following trends or exploring niche interests, and plans to roll out Dear Algo to more countries in the future.
