On January 5, 2026 local time, during CES 2026 , the world's largest consumer electronics trade show being held in Las Vegas, Boston Dynamics, a global leader in mobile robotics, and Google DeepMind, a world-leading AI research institute, announced a new AI partnership aimed at equipping humanoids with next-generation AI.
This AI partnership aims to integrate Boston Dynamics' humanoid robot, Atlas , with Gemini Robotics, a cutting-edge AI model for robotics developed by Google DeepMind.
Atlas is a fully electrically powered humanoid robot. The following article summarizes what kind of movements it can make and what its features are.

And Google DeepMind's AI model for robots, 'Gemini Robotics,' is an AI model based on Gemini 2.0 that adds a 'function to output actions' to enable robots to be operated. 'Gemini Robotics 1.5' was released at the end of September 2025, and you can find out what kind of AI it is by reading the article below.

Regarding the AI partnership with Google DeepMind, Boston Dynamics explained, 'This strategic alliance focuses on enabling humanoids to perform a wide range of industrial tasks and is expected to be a driving force behind the transformation of manufacturing, starting with the automotive industry. The joint research, expected to begin in the coming months, will be conducted by both companies.'
'We are excited to partner with Google DeepMind,' said Alberto Rodriguez, Director of Robot Behavior at Boston Dynamics. 'We are developing the world's most capable humanoids and knew we needed a partner to help us build a new kind of vision, language, and behavior model for these complex robots. There is no better company than Google DeepMind to help us build reliable, scalable models that can be safely and efficiently deployed across a wide range of tasks and industries.'
'We built Gemini Robotics to bring AI to the real world,' said Carolina Parada, senior director of robotics at Google DeepMind. 'We're excited to collaborate with Boston Dynamics to explore the potential of their new Atlas robot, expand the impact of robotics, and develop new models for safely and efficiently scaling robots.'
Boston Dynamics also announced that it will begin production of the production version of Atlas immediately. The production version of Atlas is expected to be deployed at Hyundai and Google DeepMind in 2026, with availability to more customers from 2027 onwards.
