Review of the 'Nintendo Switch 2 Secret Exhibition' where Nintendo directly explains the Switch 2's 4K resolution and Joy-Con 2's HD vibration 2 technologies through games and demos

The Nintendo Switch 2 , which was released on June 5, 2025, has evolved from the previous generation Nintendo Switch, and is now capable of 4K resolution and HDR video output, as well as greatly improved processing power, Joy-Con 2, dock, etc. Nintendo has officially released the title ' Nintendo Switch 2 Secret Exhibition,' which shows how much the Nintendo Switch 2 has evolved through games and demos, so I actually played it.

The title screen looks like this. Press the A button to 'Enter.'

First, choose your look.

This is the one I chose this time. Press 'OK'.

The 'Nintendo Switch 2 Secret Exhibition' is a game that allows you to freely explore a huge Nintendo Switch 2 venue and have various experiences related to the 'secrets' of the Nintendo Switch 2.

Start with Joy-Con 2(L) of Nintendo Switch 2. As shown in the movie below, you can move freely around on the huge Joy-Con 2(L).

When you approach the button on Joy-Con 2 (L), a platform will appear.

When you examine a machine, the names and functions of its buttons will be displayed.

And get a stamp. The basic play of the 'Nintendo Switch 2 Secret Exhibition' is to collect stamps while exploring this giant Nintendo Switch 2.

I managed to collect all the stamps on Joy-Con 2(L).

Then the path to the next area will be unlocked. By wandering around collecting stamps, the places you can explore on the giant Nintendo Switch 2 will continue to increase.

In addition to the stamps, there are also quiz sections at key locations.

In the quiz corner, you can learn various facts about the performance and functions of the Nintendo Switch 2 before answering the quiz.

The information displayed goes into quite advanced content, including the Nintendo Switch 2's design, internal structure, and technical details.

Once you have checked all your knowledge, speak to the quiz corner again to start the quiz.

The quiz questions will be based on what you have previously studied.

By learning and answering quizzes correctly, your understanding of the Nintendo Switch 2 will progress.

For example, in the main body area, you can mainly learn about the display that is installed.

The 120Hz refresh rate was explained in a way that even a child could understand.

With the Joy-Con 2(R), you can go even deeper inside. Inside, you can walk on the Joy-Con 2(R)'s circuit board.

The sensors and structures built into the Joy-Con 2, such as the accelerometer and gyro sensor, are also explained in detail.

In addition to stamps and quizzes, you can also experience the features of the Nintendo Switch 2 through games. For example, in the Joy-Con 2(L) area, you can play games that can be played using the Joy-Con 2 mouse.

The controls are simple; just use the mouse to move the cursor and avoid the falling spikes.

When you place the Joy-Con 2 on the floor, control will automatically switch to mouse mode.

The movie below shows how to actually play the game. It's not just a mouse pad that you put on your desk, but as you can see from the video of the mouse operation, the mouse's sensitivity and accuracy are quite high. The shape is different from a normal mouse, so it has a bit of a quirk, but once you get used to it, you'll be able to move it quite smoothly.

There are goals set in the game, and you can get medals by clearing them.

Two goals are presented at first, but if you perform well you can also achieve a hidden third goal.

By clearing games and collecting medals, you can unlock games and demos in the area.

For example, the demo that was released this time allowed people to experience the noise canceling capabilities of the microphone built into the top of the Nintendo Switch 2. The Nintendo Switch 2 comes with a voice chat function by default, but it seems that you can hear your voice clearly by simply talking to the Nintendo Switch 2 placed in front of the TV without using a headset.

You can see how much noise is actually shut out by watching the movie below. In the demo, I was asked to move the vacuum cleaner and hair dryer and talk to them, so I actually tried talking to them while turning on the hair dryer, and when I listened to the recorded voice, I could see that the sound of the hair dryer had completely disappeared. The Nintendo Switch 2 not only eliminates the surrounding environmental sounds, but also cancels the sound of the fan and the sound of the TV coming from the Nintendo Switch 2 main unit.

On the display in the main unit area, we were able to experience what would happen if we played 'Super Mario Bros.', which was released for the Family Computer in 1985, on a 4K display, with the Nintendo Switch 2 finally supporting 4K output. In addition, a 4K-compatible monitor is required to play this demo.

Below is the actual play. The screen resolution of the Family Computer is 256 x 240 pixels, and if you play 1-1 of 'Super Mario Bros.' to the end, the width of the entire stage will be 3372 pixels in total, but since the 4K resolution is 3840 pixels wide, all of the 1-1 stages can be displayed on one screen.

If you have an HDR-compatible monitor, you can also experience a demo that shows the difference between SDR and HDR.

By moving the slider left and right below, you can compare SDR (left) and HDR (right). You can see the difference in the brightness of the fireworks, and the bright areas that are blown out in SDR are clearly depicted in HDR.

Additionally, the Joy-Con 2 demo allowed us to experience 'HD Rumble 2,' an improved version of the previous generation.

HD Vibration 2 has an evolved built-in vibration motor. The previous generation Nintendo Switch used the rotation of a motor to vibrate, but the Nintendo Switch 2 uses a new vibration method with a linear vibration motor, allowing for more precise control.

With more precise vibration control now possible, the Joy-Con 2 of the Nintendo Switch 2 can even play any sound with vibration. In the movie below, you can see how the pitch of the vibration sound of the Joy-Con 2 is gradually increased, eventually playing the sound effect when you take a coin in 'Super Mario Bros.' The sound recorded in the movie is not the sound coming from the TV, but the sound coming from the Joy-Con 2.

It was a title that not only appealed to the specs, but also allowed you to clearly understand the intention and the ingenuity that went into the design. Rather than just looking at the information, there are plenty of demos and mini-games that you can experience by moving the game with your hands, so you can experience the full potential of the Nintendo Switch 2 hardware, making it a title that you will feel is very satisfying to play. In addition, we recommend reading the following interview published by Nintendo, as it will give you a good understanding of the hard work of Nintendo's development staff.
