Leni Ritchie, who works at YouTube, pointed out that while AI has become a tool that helps creators push the boundaries, there are also some concerns, such as deepfakes. 'That's why YouTube actively supports the No Fakes Act of 2025 announced by Senators Chris Coons and Marsha Blackburn,' she said.

The NO FAKES Act of 2025 is a law that aims to give people the right to protect their appearance and voice online. 'YouTube already has a way for people to report content that fakes their likeness and ask for it to be taken down,' Ritchie said, adding that the NO FAKES Act of 2025 would standardize similar protections not just on YouTube but across the internet.

YouTube has had rights management efforts like Content ID for 15 years, but it is also developing new image-rights management technology as part of Content ID, which Ritchie said could potentially help the company automatically detect and manage images that use AI-generated likenesses.

The new technology is already being tested on some popular YouTubers, including MrBeast, and the company plans to expand testing to a wider audience over the next year, but it's not clear when it will be released to the public.
