According to YouTube, users can file privacy complaints about synthetic content that looks or sounds like them, which is generated by AI.

Generally, a complaint must be filed by the person whose privacy was violated, with exceptions if the victim is a minor, does not have access to a computer, or is deceased.

When YouTube receives a complaint, it may notify the video uploader, if necessary, and give them an opportunity to delete or edit the personal information in the video. The uploader has 48 hours to delete the video and the complaint will end. On the other hand, if the possibility of privacy violation remains after the deadline, the complaint will be 'reviewed' by the YouTube team.

The help page explains that submitting a removal request does not necessarily mean the content will be removed.

YouTube has been taking action against AI-generated content for some time, and in March 2024, it made changes requiring creators to label some AI-generated content as 'made by AI.'

In June 2024, it was revealed that the company would be rolling out a 'Notes' feature that would allow third parties to add supplementary information to videos.

YouTube is not opposed to the use of AI, and is exploring ways to use generative AI effectively, such as through comment summarization and conversation tools for asking questions about videos and getting recommendations.
