'Deep Fake Detector' is a browser extension for Firefox that can identify whether text is written by AI

With the emergence of ChatGPT and other tools that can generate highly accurate text, many

tools have been developed in recent years that can distinguish between text written by humans and text generated by AI . The Firefox extension Deep Fake Detector makes it possible to identify text generated or manipulated by AI without having to go through the hassle of signing up or downloading software.

To install Deep Fake Detector on Firefox, first go to the distribution page and click Add to Firefox.

When the following pop-up appears, click 'Add'.

Click 'Yes, Opt-in' to complete the installation.

To use Deep Fake Detector, select the text you want to determine whether it was written by a human or generated by AI, and right-click. Click 'Scan for Deepfakes' from the menu. At the time of writing, Deep Fake Detector only supports English. As a test, this time we will enter 'Explain about GIGAZINE' in ChatGPT and check the generated text.

Once the scan is complete, the analysis results will be displayed on the right. In this case, the analysis tools ZipPy and UAR showed that the text was 'written by a human,' while ApolloDFT and Binocular showed that the text was 'generated by an AI,' and reported a 'Model Conflict' analysis result.

However, when the Deep Fake Detector was used to analyze the sentences generated by ChatGPT with the command 'Write about GIGAZINE more than 100 words,' all models showed the result 'AI generated sentences' and the result 'AI Patterns Detected' was displayed.

According to Mozilla, at the time of writing, Deep Fake Detector can only determine whether selected text on a website is human or AI-generated, but in the future it will be able to analyze images and videos as well.
