YouTube is a major video sharing platform used by 90% of Americans aged 18 to 49, with 75% of teenagers using it daily. In recent years, many YouTubers and podcasters, including podcasters
Bloomberg analyzed over 2,000 videos posted on the channels of Joe Rogan, Theo Vuong, Logan Paul, Adyn Roth , Andrew Schultz , The Nelk Boys , Rex Friedman , Patrick Beto David, and Shawn Ryan. This allowed them to quantify the messages and influence of influencers such as Rogan. The viewers of these channels are primarily male, accounting for approximately 80% of the listeners to their shows.
The survey found that more than one-third of the videos viewed more than one million times during the analysis period mentioned voting or elections, and in many cases, influencers were urging viewers to vote. These influencers also claimed that 'America is in a desperate situation due to rising prices due to inflation, the influx of immigrants across the border, and the start of World War III,' and sent messages that incited distrust in gender issues, education, and medical institutions. These messages were consistent with President Trump's inauguration speech, and it was pointed out that the influencers surveyed are increasingly supporting President Trump's political agenda.
These influencers convey their political views while also incorporating topics such as sports, gender studies, internet culture, and gambling, which makes them more accessible to viewers who are less interested in politics. In addition, many of the guests were athletes, musicians, comedians, entrepreneurs, and internet influencers, with only a few politicians and political experts. However, as the presidential election approached, the number of appearances by politicians and experts increased, and they actively discussed the election.
In addition to President Trump,
Below is a graph showing the genres of people that the nine influencers surveyed invited as guests to their videos from November 1, 2022 to November 21, 2024. The percentage of guests who were politicians or political experts is shown in white.
The videos included anti-war and isolationist discussions of war, as well as topics that portrayed transgender people as 'deviants' and emphasized the idea of gender binary. In a Logan Paul podcast, President Trump called immigrants 'terrorists' and claimed that 'if I was president then, Russia's invasion of Ukraine would never have happened.'

These influencers emphasize the message that 'American men are victims whose power has been taken away by the Democratic Party administration so far.' According to Bloomberg, this message resonates with and gives a sense of security to the 18-23 year old generation, who have a strong pessimistic view of the future. Some listeners also believe that 'listening to podcasts leads to getting a lot of information,' and it has been pointed out that interviews on podcast shows may change the perception of politicians. Bloomberg said, 'President Trump's appearance on a podcast show gave a different impression to the image portrayed by the Democratic Party, which led to a large amount of support from young viewers.'
President Trump treats these influencers as 'alternative media outlets' and is trying to gain their support. Even after the election, influencers have been deepening their ties with the Trump administration, and it is possible that influencers will play a major role in President Trump's future policy decisions.
