The image in question was posted on 4chan's Politically Incorrect board on January 2, 2025 by a user calling himself Adrian Dittmann. The post claimed that 'Mr. Musk is a liberal thinker' and also included a screenshot of 'a post in which Mr. Musk mentions X's sensitive settings function.' An archive of the post can be viewed at the following link.

The image attached to the post is below. It looks like a regular screenshot of the web app version of X.
However, if you look closely, you will see a button at the bottom of the post that says 'View post engagements,' which should only be visible to the poster.
In addition, at the bottom right of the screen, there are buttons such as 'SWITCH ACCOUNT', 'ADMIN PORTAL', and 'BANS' that are not displayed on the screen of normal users. From the display of these buttons, it was inferred that 'this screenshot was taken by Mr. Musk himself with X's administrator account', and the possibility that Adrian Dittmann was Mr. Musk's secret account was strengthened.
However, on January 4, 2025, the foreign media outlet The Verge reported that 'an informant within X had told us that the image was fake,' and that 'according to an informant familiar with X's operations, the image in question is different from X's administrator screen.'
If it is true that the image in question is a fake image made to resemble the administrator screen, then it is inappropriate as evidence linking Adrian Dittmann to Musk. The Verge points out that the reason why the fake image was posted on 4chan was that 'Adrian Dittmann may have tried to profit by suggesting that it was Musk's secret account.' In addition, it is possible that the person who appeared on 4chan calling himself Adrian Dittmann is 'a fake Adrian Dittmann.'
