The price of Premium Plus in Japan has increased by about 30%, from 1,960 yen to 2,590 yen for monthly payments and from 20,560 yen to 27,300 yen for annual payments. These prices are for contracts made via the website, and contracts made via Android or iPhone apps are a little more expensive due to fees paid to Apple and other companies.
The price revision took place on December 21, and new users signing up at the time of writing will have to pay the increased price. If you are already signed up for Premium Plus and your next billing is due before January 20, 2025, the pre-increase price will apply only to that billing.
The Premium Plus plan, like the next level down, “Premium,” is a plan that allows you to display a “blue check mark” by authenticating your account, and allows you to participate in X’s revenue sharing program and receive revenue.
Previously, the revenue sharing amount was determined by the ads displayed in replies to content posted on X, but as of November, the amount of revenue sharing has been changed to be determined by how many premium and above users reply, repost, and like posts from users who have joined the revenue sharing program.
The advantages of Premium Plus are that replies posted by you are displayed at the top of the list, and that ads are not displayed in the 'Recommended' and 'Following' timelines. With Premium, the ad display rate is only reduced to half that of regular users, but with Premium Plus, it is completely removed.
According to the Japanese help page , Premium Plus users will still see the same number of ads in 'Search Topics' and 'Reply' as regular users. However, the announcement of the price change states that 'Premium Plus is completely ad-free, offering an uninterrupted browsing experience,' so it's possible that ads in 'Reply' and other sections are no longer being displayed.
In conjunction with the price increase, X announced that Premium Plus subscribers will enjoy priority support from the official support account ' @Premium ,' access to new features such as the analysis tool ' Radar ,' and an increased limit on the AI 'Grok.'
