'Voxon VX2' is a 3D volumetric display that projects holograms that can be seen from any angle without special glasses or a headset.

In '

Star Wars Episode 4: A New Hope ,' there is a scene where a 3D hologram of Princess Leia conveys a message, but the technology to project 3D holograms without special glasses or headsets is already a reality. The ' Voxon VX2 ' developed by Voxon Photonics is the most advanced 3D volumetric display available at the time of writing, and is capable of rendering 3D holograms that appear to float in the air.

The Voxon VX2 is a cylindrical 3D volumetric display with a diameter of 30 cm, a height of 50 cm, and a weight of 12 kg. The volume of the display part is 25.6 cm in diameter and 25.6 cm in height. Volumetric holograms are holograms made up of millions of voxels, creating immersive, interactive digital scenes that can be viewed from 360 degrees.

By projecting cross-sections of a 3D scene onto a precisely engineered LED array rotating at 900 revolutions per minute, a custom-built volumetric graphics engine (VLED engine) can render 3D holograms that are clearly visible from any direction. The display has 8 million voxels, so no 3D glasses or headset are required to view the holograms.

The 3D hologram will not collapse even if you change the angle.

Multiple people can view the same hologram without the need for special 3D glasses or headsets.

It is also possible to project images such as a virtual aquarium onto the entire cylindrical display area.

Voxon VX2 is intended for use in interactive games and animations, as well as in medical and industrial applications where sharing 3D structures is beneficial.

The Voxon VX2 can be connected to any Windows PC and controlled through downloaded Voxon software, which has an intuitive interface that allows users to create interactive games and apps.

In addition, a larger version, the Voxon VX2-XL, has also been developed, which offers improved clarity and immersion over the Voxon VX2.
