Apple will release iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2 updates on December 11, 2024, which will allow you to access ChatGPT via Siri and the writing tool .
After updating your iPhone, you can enable ChatGPT from Apple Intelligence settings to use ChatGPT through Siri. Because OpenAI's privacy policy applies, you will be asked to consent the first time you use it, but you can skip this step by asking Siri to directly contact ChatGPT.
I asked Siri, 'Can you ask ChatGPT to organize a Christmas party?' and ChatGPT suggested I set the date, time and venue, then create a list of attendees.
You can also use the camera control button on the iPhone 16 series to ask ChatGPT questions about photos.
As a test, Miqdad Jaffer (left), a product manager, asked ChatGPT to be a judge for a Christmas sweater contest. ChatGPT responded that Altman would win. Altman, who thought he would lose, commented, 'I'll have to report a bug.'
Even if you don't tell Siri to access ChatGPT, if Siri determines that a task is better suited to ChatGPT, it will automatically access it.
In a test run by news site MacStories, when asked 'What is the capital of Italy?' Siri responded with a photo, but when asked 'What is the capital of Italy? Has it always been the capital of Italy?' ChatGPT took over and responded in text.
At the time of writing, Apple Intelligence cannot be used in Japanese.
'Today, Apple Intelligence also launched language expansion with localized English support for Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa and the UK, giving even more customers around the world powerful new ways to use their iPhone, iPad and Mac,' Apple said. 'Additional languages, including Chinese, English (India), English (Singapore), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish and Vietnamese, will be available throughout the year, with an initial set coming in a software update in April.'
