Apple and Sony are working together to 'support PSVR2 controllers with Apple Vision Pro'

Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, who is well-versed in Apple-related information, reports that Apple is working with Sony to develop support for the PlayStation VR2 Sense controller, which can be used with PlayStation VR 2 , through Apple Vision Pro.

Apple Vision Pro is a device that allows you to experience MR (mixed reality), which overlaps reality with virtual space. Operation is basically performed by eye tracking, which tracks the gaze, and hand tracking, which tracks the hands and fingers, so there are no dedicated controllers like those found in other VR/MR devices.

However, Garman said, 'There are games among the apps that support Apple Vision Pro, but there aren't many attractive titles. Apple has tried to turn Apple Vision Pro into a gaming console in the past, but only made it possible to use PlayStation 5 and Xbox controllers.'

Garman also argues that 'Apple should have prioritized gaming titles by developing its own hand controller and building services specifically for the device. This would have helped fund the development of big-budget games - AAA titles that captivate users.'

According to Garman, Apple has been working on plans to make the PlayStation VR2 Sense controller compatible with Apple Vision Pro since early 2024, and has already agreed to a partnership with Sony for support. Apple has also asked third-party developers if they could use the PlayStation VR2 Sense controller.

At the time of writing, the PlayStation VR2 Sense controller is not sold separately, but is only available as a set with the PlayStation VR 2. However, if it is officially compatible with Apple Vision Pro, there is a good chance that the PlayStation VR2 Sense controller will be sold separately.

According to Gurman, Apple and Sony had planned to announce this support in November 2024, but the announcement was ultimately delayed.
