Amazon releases ultra-low-cost store 'Amazon Haul' to compete head-on with Temu and Shein
A new low-cost store called Amazon Haul has been launched to compete with Temu and Shein, which sell products at lower prices than other markets. All products are priced at under $20 (approx. 3,100 yen), with some even costing as little as $1 (approx. 156 yen). This is a low-cost store, but it also has drawbacks, such as delivery times of 1-2 weeks.

According to the official announcement, Amazon Haul has a 'unique shopping experience' and 'search, cart and order system'. All products handled by Amazon Haul are under $20, and systems such as a 5% discount on orders over $50 (about 7,800 yen) and a 10% discount on orders over $75 (about 11,700 yen) are adopted. In addition, the basic shipping fee is charged, and shipping is free for orders over $25 (about 3,900 yen).
At the time of writing, Amazon Haul is in beta for customers in the U.S. Customers can access it by searching for 'Haul' in the search bar of the Amazon Shopping app, navigating to Amazon Haul from the main menu icon, or visiting www.amazon.com/haul in the browser of their mobile device.
When I actually accessed the site, for some reason it was displayed in Chinese, with items like 'Unbelievable Low Prices' and 'You're a Frugal Person' included.
There is no Japanese language setting.
I tried tapping on a product, but there was no price listed anywhere. It seems that it doesn't appear if you're not signed in.
Amazon claims that 'All products are protected by the A to Z Guarantee .' They also say that 'Amazon inspects the products that sellers offer on Haul, so customers can be assured that they are receiving safe, compliant, and authentic products.' Returns are also possible via 'Amazon Lockers' and UPS.
'Finding great products at very low prices is important to customers, and Amazon Haul aims to make shopping for fashion, home, lifestyle, electronics and other products more fun, easier and more affordable,' said Dharmesh Mehta, Amazon's vice president of Worldwide Selling Partner Services.
