Introducing ChatGPT search | OpenAI
ChatGPT search is a feature that displays AI-powered summaries of web search results. ChatGPT search can be run by clicking a dedicated button, and ChatGPT search can also be used to answer general questions about ChatGPT.
Users can dig deeper into search results by replying to the output of ChatGPT search. You can also display a link to the source page that was used as a reference for the output on the right side of the screen. OpenAI claims that 'to get quality information on the web, you need to search repeatedly, but ChatGPT gives you better answers,' and is promoting its superiority over existing web search engines.
ChatGPT search uses a model that has been trained using GPT-4o with synthetic data generation technology including output extraction from OpenAI o1-preview. In the future, shopping and travel-related functions are planned to be enhanced, and improvements are also planned that utilize the inference capabilities of OpenAI o1-preview.
In addition, OpenAI has partnered with information providers such as 'weather,' 'stock prices,' 'sports,' 'news,' and 'maps,' so that the latest information can be visually displayed within ChatGPT's answers. An example of the weather display looks like this.
You can also display a map with store information as shown below.
ChatGPT search is already available to ChatGPT Plus and ChatGPT Team subscribers, and will be available to free users in the future.
