OpenAI releases new plan 'ChatGPT Pro' that allows unlimited use of the best models, and the official version of the o1 model is also available

OpenAI has released a new plan called 'ChatGPT Pro' that allows unlimited use of high-performance models such as o1, o1-mini, GPT-4o, and Advanced Voice. The fee is $200 (about 30,000 yen) per month.

OpenAI o1 is a model announced in September 2024. It is extremely high performance, having been ranked 500th in the US in the preliminary rounds of the Mathematical Olympiad, and having human doctoral level abilities in the fields of physics, biology, and chemistry. Until now, the preview version 'o1-preview' was open to users, but there was a rate limit of up to 50 queries per week.

This time, the official version of o1 was released at the same time as the release of 'ChatGPT Pro', and ChatGPT Pro plan subscribers are no longer subject to rate limits. In addition, the image upload function and 'o1 pro mode' that provides better answers to difficult problems have also been introduced.

The performance comparison of 'o1 pro mode' looks like this. On the left is the score for the competitive mathematics test, in the middle is the score for the competitive programming test, and on the right is the score for the doctoral level scientific questions test. The bar graphs in each figure are for o1-preview, o1, and o1 pro modes from the left. You can see that the performance is improved over the o1 in all cases.

On the other hand, in o1 pro mode, it takes a long time to answer. A 'progress bar' has been introduced to show the time it takes to answer.

OpenAI plans to add features to ChatGPT Pro in the future to enable it to handle more computationally intensive tasks. Users of ChatGPT Plus and ChatGPT Team accounts can also use the official o1 model, but they will be rate-limited to 50 queries per week.
