The $15 million investment into Bluesky was led by Blockchain Capital , an investment firm that invests in blockchain-related companies, and included Alumni Ventures, True Ventures, SevenX, Amir Shevat of DarkMode Ventures, and Kubernetes developer Joe Beda.

In conjunction with this investment, Kinjal Shah, general partner of Blockchain Capital, has been appointed to join Bluesky's board of directors. Bluesky stated, 'Blockchain Capital has a deep understanding of our decentralized philosophy and has extensive experience building developer ecosystems. (Receiving investment from Blockchain Capital) does not change the fact that Bluesky and AT Protocol do not use blockchain or cryptocurrency technology, nor do we intend to engage in hyperfinancialization using cryptocurrencies or NFTs.'

Bluesky also announced the start of development of a paid plan. Subscribers to the paid plan will receive benefits such as 'the ability to post high-quality videos' and 'the ability to use the custom avatar frame function.' Bluesky stated, 'Bluesky will always be available for free. We will not rank up your account just because you have subscribed to a paid plan.'

In addition, Bluesky reported that the number of users has exceeded 13 million. The number of Bluesky users continues to grow rapidly following the suspension of X (formerly Twitter) services in Brazil and the change in X's blocking specifications .
