On October 21, 2024, AMD released the following slide. It announces the launch of the Ryzen 9000 series 'X3D', which is billed as the next-generation gaming processor. According to the slide, the X3D platform is ' AM5 ', and it seems to support PCIe 5.0 and DDR5 memory.

According to previous

leaks , the 9000 series AMD Ryzen X3D is a processor equipped with 3D V-Cache , and there are models such as the 8-core/16-thread 'Ryzen 7 9800X3D', the 12-core/24-thread 'Ryzen 9 9900X3D', and the 16-core/32-thread 'Ryzen 9 9950X3D'. In addition, the capacity of the 3D V-Cache is said to be 64MB for all three models.

According to the leak, the default frequency of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D is 4.7 GHz, but it can sustain 5.2 GHz across all cores when running heavy-duty software like the Cinebench R24 benchmark.

According to another source , the Ryzen 7 9800X3D is said to be 18% faster in single-core scores and 28% faster in multi-core scores compared to the previous generation 7000X3D. Similarly, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D is said to be 9% faster in single-core and 16% faster in multi-core scores.

It has also been shown that it may perform on par with the non-X3D Ryzen 9000 series.

Regarding the seemingly abrupt timing of the announcement, technology media ExtremeTech pointed out that 'it was timed to coincide with the arrival of rival Intel Core Ultra 200 at retail stores on October 24th, and that Intel may be trying to discourage customers from purchasing Intel products by informing them that the X3D version of Zen 5 is coming soon.'

Coinciding with the X3D announcement, AMD is also slashing the prices of its Zen 5 CPUs as part of its holiday promotions.
